CSA is recognized as a leading nonprofit on the cutting edge of human service delivery, dedicated to alleviating and eliminating poverty. Its primary goal is to be customer focused, which benefits the surrounding community.
Community Services Agency (CSA) is a private, nonprofit Community Action Agency (CAA) governed by a local, tripartite 12-15 member, volunteer Board of Directors consisting of representation from the public, private, and low-income sectors. Board members contribute to the strategy and mission of the organization and collaborate on developing responses to local needs.
CSA is one of more than 1,000 CAAs throughout the U.S. and one of 13 in Nevada that work as federally-designated organizations designed to implement innovative programs and activities to eliminate poverty and improve communities by being responsive to the unique needs of the particular community. This work is done in collaboration with a variety of partners, representing local, state and federal governments, as well as community and advocacy groups, policymakers and low-income leaders.
As a CAA, CSA adheres to a stringent set of nationally-developed organizational standards, outcome measurements and conducts a comprehensive, local Community Needs Assessment every three years to gain a deeper understanding of community needs and to more effectively design strategies and programs that produce measurable outcomes.
CSA collaborates with dozens of community partners to provide and administer a variety of programs and services to improve the lives of an average of 4,000 low-income individuals/ families per year (those who earn income between 0-150% of the Federal Poverty Level, individuals with disabilities, and/or individuals who have been laid-off), through Early Childhood Education Programs (Early Head Start/Head Start), Workforce Development Programs, VOCA Programs, Income and Asset Building Services, Income Tax Preparation Program, Energy Programs, and Housing Services.
Through our nonprofit development arm, the Community Services Agency Development Corporation (CSADC), CSA has implemented various social enterprise ventures that fulfill its mission and provide funding flexibility and has developed 26 complexes of affordable and senior housing over the past 36 years.
